Customer Reviews Sharp R269WM (White) 800W 22L Mid Size, Touch Control Solo Microwave Oven (Misc.) OK, so it’s a microwave, what more can you say?

We bought this to replace a previous model, so we knew pretty much what we wanted, it has all of the features we had chosen; quick time buttons (press to add 10s or 1 minute increments etc.), a compact size, electronic timer and reaonable power.

It does everything you need, I particularly like the new Blue LED screen, very modern.

Customer Reviews Sharp R269WM (White) 800W 22L Mid Size, Touch Control Solo Microwave Oven (Misc.) Our Sharp Carousel II finally died just 3 months short of its 25th birthday.
Since it had given us good service every day for so long it seemed obvious that we should buy a near equivalent – we purchased the Sharp R269.

This is described as mid-sized although I’d describe it as small. But, no complaints, the measurements are widely available and if you need a bigger one then you order a bigger one.

First off, the build of the R269 isn’t nearly so solid as the Carousel II and I’ve no expectation that it’s going to last 25 years.

My next disappointment is the controls. The Carousel II had a number pad which allowed you to quickly enter any number you liked up to 99mins 99secs. The R269 has no number pad and you enter values using combinations of 10 mins, 1 min and 10 secs. This can be fiddly and frustating. Almost nothing about the controls is intuitive, some areas on the control panel are marked like buttons but have no function.

There are options to set defrost time and cook time by type of food, weight, whether it’s frozen or chilled etc -though whether many people will take the trouble to get to grips with this I have my doubts.

The real clincher, however, is the lack of a delay timer or timer cooking. If you’re busy elsewhere and just want the frozen peas to start cooking at 6.55p.m. Then you have to be there at 6.55 p.m! I still can’t really believe this.
